Mental Health Urgent Care Facility Opens in Raleigh, NC
By Sabriya Dobbins, Founder of Project Passport
A fantastic occurrence has taken place in the Wake County of North Carolina community. In response to the mental health and substance abuse crises that the community has been facing, Monarch Behavioral Health Urgent care has stepped in to make the change. The facility is the first of its kind providing walk-in services for patients where they can access the support of psychiatric professionals in the same day. Through collaborations with local hospitals, emergency facilities, and community support centers, patients are able to receive a holistic care model that caters to their individual needs.
The company provides a variety of services including: support for anxiety or depression, in-home therapy, community-based rehabilitation, Peer Support Certification Training, long term care, and so much more. Fortunately, they accept insurance options allowing patients to receive services with financial peace of mind. Their trained professionals are prepared to streamline services to provide an efficient patient experience. According to their website:
“The BHUC treatment model is designed to provide assessment, stabilization and psychiatric intervention for people ages 4 and older who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis by a multidisciplinary team that includes licensed therapists and experienced medical professionals.”
With care options starting as early as 4 years old, parents can feel confident that their children have the immediate access to help they need at Monarch. Previously, mental health crisis patients would travel to the Wake County ER, however it would often take up to days for them to receive the appropriate services. This led to overcrowding of hospitals and a destabilization of mental health care in the community.
The Monarch facility has extended hours even until 7 PM, which provides working professionals opportunities to receive help when they leave work. They have mapped out the patient experience in a way that allows them to quickly identify the type of professional that patients need to communicate with to address the situation. The mission on the website states:
“Monarch is committed to supporting, educating, and empowering people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders to choose and achieve what is important to them.”
This well-needed addition will change the face of Raleigh and surrounding areas to a face of hope and a place of refuge. With the increased incidences of suicide, mental breakdowns, and addiction over the years, it was time that the community experience an evolution in support and access. Project Passport is definitely considering this facility for future collaborations as mental health is the core belief in both companies. One thing is clear, making mental health the norm is the first step in removing the stigma.
