“First World Problems Lead to Bigger Problems and That is Why I Help Address Them,” States Jennifer Moore, Certified Life Coach
Interview by Sabriya Dobbins, Founder of Project Passport, of Jennifer Moore, Certified Life Coach
“There is a hyper focus on what is wrong. We have this idea that if I learn enough about the problem, I’ll know how to fix it. We study the abnormal. What is not working right? What is malfunctioning? If I focus on the problem, I actually make it bigger than me and it minimizes my power. The problems then become larger than life,” Jennifer Moore explains.
As a Certified Life Coach with her own coaching company, Jennifer found herself drawn to the people with “first world problems.” These people often are experiencing belief systems that tell them they are not enough.
“Social media has us in compare and despair,” she exclaims.
In a world where finding the bad exceeds looking for the good, people are feeling more lost and depressed than ever. They are often not in the category of being diagnosed with an official disorder, but they still are living with an immense struggle in the day to day.
Jennifer believes it is important to address anxiety, depression, overdrinking, or overeating because it prevents people from putting things out in the world that they were meant to create. It stops their greatness from being revealed. “First world problems,” as we often call them, are emotional and mental issues that at best stops people from being who they want to be, and at worst leads to bigger problems that people begin to find unbearable.
She follows a very unique model with each of her clients. Jennifer believes that circumstances in the world trigger thoughts which create feelings. Those feelings drive actions or non-actions. These actions [or non-actions] create results in our lives. The results that we have in our life confirm the thoughts that we had from the beginning.
“How we do anything is how we do everything,” says Jennifer.
How one manages their time is how they manage themselves and all of the things around them. But to address how people manage themselves, we need not subscribe to one modality. Jennifer believes wellness is a holistic process where people can choose a la carte items and activities, they need to be their best selves. Some people take massages, while others seek counseling but there is no one set way.
“To have comradery in mental health and wellness is important and we should not address it in one certain way. I love Project Passport and the vision for it. It is so needed especially in our society today,” she exclaims.
