4 Handy Tips from Retreat Specialists to Keep Employees Productive

Many companies have shifted to working remotely so knowing how to keep your employees productive can seem like a daunting task for company leaders. As a mental empowerment retreat company, we specialize in the topic of productivity and I’m going to let you in on some secrets. Here are 4 ways company leaders can keep their employees productive while working from home:

  1. Accountability Partners 

    • People tend to do better when they know someone is holding them accountable. Assign each team member to an accountability partner and have them share with one another their goals in work and life. Throughout the year, assign accountability days where they will catch up and talk about what they have accomplished. A good tip for accountability partners is having them set up a timeline for the year. Add in personal goals and work goals as they come up. When partners check in with each other they can check and see if what they accomplished goes with their timeline whether that timeline is strict or flexible. 

  2. Create an Action Plan 

    • Encourage team members to create an action plan. Have them write a list of all their tasks to be completed, big or small. For the smaller tasks, assign due dates for them. For larger tasks or projects, plan them out on a week by week basis. Figure out how much of that project you will get done by every Friday. 

  3. End-of-Workday Report

    • Whether you require your team to turn this into you or not, creating an end-of-workday report is helpful in staying productive. By listing the things that were accomplished everyday allows employees to stay on top of things. 

  4. Structure Routine

    • Working from home makes it easy to get distracted and not treat the workday like a workday.  Encourage your employees to have a structured schedule. Have a strict start and stop time and differentiate between what’s work and what’s home. If you do your work in bed or on the couch, you’re less likely to be productive.

    • Employees should create an office space that is strictly for work (even if it is makeshift). It’s also helpful to set up a morning routine and an end-of-day routine so that they train their brains on when to start and stop their workdays. 

Working from home can be just as productive, if not more productive than working in an office. You just need to learn how to do it right.
